Then I realized. We play the team with the guy my players refer to as T-Mac, which I do not understand, because this guy actually plays the entire season, and is good. Whatever. Anyway, We have literally no chance. This is an inner city team. We are a rural team. We play white guy European ball, minus the spot shooting facial hair wearing brilliance. So often I am confronted by people who reached for drugs, and alcohol to drown out their problems. But why? Why is something as amazing as Gods Grace the last thing on so many peoples minds? It makes me wonder if I am not doing my job as a Christian. Am I leading by example? Am I even worthy enough to be a leader? I think DC Talk summed it up the best "What if I stumble? What if I fall? What if I lose my step and I make fools of us all? Will the love continue, when my walk becomes a crawl?" Lately I have been realizing, not everyone can make a difference on a large scale. Some are blessed with the gift of writing, singing, speaking, they are given gifts that hopefully they will use to tell large audiences of Gods unfailing love. Praise God for those people. Some however, will work their whole lives to try to get the one family member, or that one friend to come to God, and many are called home before they can see the fruits of their labor. They are no less important. May God grant us all perseverance, that we, whatever our gifts are, may use them to the best of our ability. We may not think we are making a difference, or that we are unworthy, but I have recently come to realize, God doesn't call the equipped, he equips the called.
Much love
Geoff

Echos, Silence, Patience, and Grace.

At my work, for Christmas, they decided to give us gift certificates that we had to activate online. These were able to be used at numerous locales, including some online stores. I decided to activate my 15 dollars on Amazon.com. I have purchased CD's from them before, and found some that were only 2 dollars or so. This I thought was the perfect option. I could potentially get 4 or 5 CD's, and improve my already ridiculous CD collection. Then, as I was scrolling through the list, I found my choice. One disk. The band I want to see live more than anyone else.

I chose the Foo Fighters new album, Echos, Silence, Patience, and Grace. Let me say this: I absolutely made the right choice. The album is great, as they usually are, but something about this one for some reason really stuck out to me. Every song flows, Dave Grohl's voice is impressive. He can scream his heart out, and sing ballads with equal force.

The song Ballad of the Beaconsfield Miners, stands out in particular. It is completely instramental, completely acoustic, and completely mind blowing. Its a 2:32 ballad, that is a tribute to two miners who were trapped when their mine collapsed. They asked for nothing, except an iPod with Foo Fighters songs on it, to tide them over until help came.

The album is suprisingly low - key. The first track, The Pretender rocks as hard as any of the Foo's previous songs.

I am not going to be one of those people who say that a certain bands music changed their life. I am however going to say that there are few artists I would rather listen to regardless of what I am feeling than the Foo Fighters.

I recommend for anyone interested that you get the songs Statues, Home, and Ballad of the Beaconsfield Miners, if you are looking for a few songs to try out. But if you decide to get the whole album, you will not regret it.

Much Love.

MTV almost ate my soul!

I had the distinct pleasure of watching MTV today. When I say pleasure, I mean "why the hell was I watching MTV?" It was a classic case of the old train wreck scenario. I couldn't look away. The show was My Super Sweet 16. This show exemplifies everything that is wrong with our youth. They want what they want, when they want it, and money doesn't seem to matter. Don't get me wrong, I am by no means a financial expert, but it is absolutely horrible the way these kids are treated. They are getting new cars for their birthdays, large extravagant parties, and superstars to provide the entertainment at their birthdays. Most of these kids are the children of rich record company executives, or some other randomly rich person, and it is by no means a representative sample of children. Here's what I think they should do. Go to a rural community, find a family who is lower-middle class, and show what they are doing for their son or daughters birthday party. It is by no means any less meaningful to that child, and may be more so, since chances are the parents are doing more than throwing fist fulls of money at their kids saying "happy birthday honey, let your hedonistic ways continue until you are in the real world, can't cope with being on your own, and have several unsuccessful stints in rehab." I hate MTV. I am going to go take a cold shower.
Much Love
Call your cable company and ask that they remove MTV.
G

Christ shaped hole.

So apparantly they found Jesus's remains.

I don't buy it. I am not going to argue with the fact that they found

some bones in a hole. Thats pretty likely. However, remember in

the bible when he ascended into heaven? Yeah, that actually did happen.

So, is the discovery of Jesus's remains the end of common Christianity?

Not as far as I am concerned. We do not ask for your poor, or your hungry. We do not want your tired and sick. It is your corrupt we claim; it is your evil that will be sought by us. With every breath we shall hunt them down. Each day we will spill their blood 'til it rains down from the skies. Do not kill, do not rape, do not steal - these are principles which every man of every faith can embrace. These are not polite suggestions. These are codes of behavior and those of you that ignore them will pay the dearest cost. There are varying degrees of evil - we urge you lesser forms of filth not to push the bounds and cross over into true corruption, into our domain. For if you do, one day you will look behind you and you will see we three, and on that day you will reap it, and we will send you to whatever god you wish.... And shepherds we shall be, for Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, so that our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. And we shall flow a river forth to Thee, and teeming with souls shall it ever be.
