MTV almost ate my soul!

I had the distinct pleasure of watching MTV today. When I say pleasure, I mean "why the hell was I watching MTV?" It was a classic case of the old train wreck scenario. I couldn't look away. The show was My Super Sweet 16. This show exemplifies everything that is wrong with our youth. They want what they want, when they want it, and money doesn't seem to matter. Don't get me wrong, I am by no means a financial expert, but it is absolutely horrible the way these kids are treated. They are getting new cars for their birthdays, large extravagant parties, and superstars to provide the entertainment at their birthdays. Most of these kids are the children of rich record company executives, or some other randomly rich person, and it is by no means a representative sample of children. Here's what I think they should do. Go to a rural community, find a family who is lower-middle class, and show what they are doing for their son or daughters birthday party. It is by no means any less meaningful to that child, and may be more so, since chances are the parents are doing more than throwing fist fulls of money at their kids saying "happy birthday honey, let your hedonistic ways continue until you are in the real world, can't cope with being on your own, and have several unsuccessful stints in rehab." I hate MTV. I am going to go take a cold shower.
Much Love
Call your cable company and ask that they remove MTV.
